Make the whole video warmer
- Click an empty spot on the timeline, so nothing is selected.
- Open Effects and pick a look under Looks, for example Warm.
- Done: the look goes on the whole video as an adjustment layer (a chip that reads "Adjustment · Warmer").
Other ways to add one: Media › + Add › Adjustment layer, Effects › Tools › Adjustment layer, or Colour (Advanced) with nothing selected › Colour the whole video.
Change the look
Select the chip. The inspector shows:
| Control | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Look | Warm, Cool, Vivid, Soft, Vintage and more, in one click |
| Light and colour | Brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth, highlights, shadows |
| Strength | How much of the look shows (100 % is all of it) |
| Blur | Softens everything under it |
For curves, tint and hue, open Colour with the chip selected.
Only one part of the video
- Drag the chip's edges to set where it starts and ends, or drag the chip to move it.
- Split it at the playhead (S) to give two parts two looks.
What it covers
- Everything under it: the clips, and pictures and titles on rows below it.
- Not what is above it, and not subtitles: they stay sharp on top.
- Two adjustment layers stack: the upper one changes the result of the lower one.
6 more details
- Each change can be undone with Ctrl+Z. Hide (eye) or lock it like any other layer.
- A colour look file (.cube) cannot go on an adjustment layer: put it on the clips.
- There is no vignette, film grain or sharpen setting. For a vignette or grain, add an overlay picture from Effects and set its blend mode.
- Strong blur darkens the very edges of the picture a little, as on a clip.
- Exports draw these frames in full: the picture you see is the picture you get.
- The AI can add one too ("make the whole video warmer"); that is an AI edit and uses credits.
