Make a vertical video (9:16)

Reframing is made on this computer and uses no credits.

Make it vertical

  1. Above the video, press the shape tag. It shows the shape, or Format: automatic.
  2. Pick Vertical 9:16.
  3. Keep the subject in frame (on) reframes every shot around its subject. Off changes only the shape.
  4. The new shape shows at once. The shots then follow their subject one by one, with progress and Stop in the message at the top. Keep editing meanwhile. See Keep the subject in frame.
  5. Check your shots. Ctrl+Z undoes the change in one step.

Export it

  1. Press Export (Ctrl+E). Under Where is it going?, pick TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.
  2. Press the button named after the place, for example Export for TikTok.

3 more details
  • In Advanced mode, the shape button under the video (it reads 16:9, for example) opens the same menu. Safe zones there shows where a place's buttons and caption cover the video.
  • The 9:16 version is a new copy, made in about a minute on this computer; the wide video stays as it is.
  • Over 3 minutes, YouTube posts it as a normal video, not a Short, and Instagram may post it as a normal video, not a Reel.
